The trial of British teenager Bella Culley, accused of drug smuggling in Georgia, has been postponed to allow time to finalize a plea bargain.

Culley, 19, from Billingham, Teesside, appeared at Tbilisi City Court, where she had previously been warned she could face up to 15 years—or even life imprisonment—if found guilty.

Reports suggest that her family has managed to raise enough funds to help significantly reduce any potential jail sentence.

Her lawyer, Malkhaz Salakaia, who represents the heavily pregnant teenager, said he intends to appeal to the President of Georgia for a pardon once the plea deal is finalized.
